JONATHAN SENA

Jonathan is a dedicated public servant, community leader, and faith-based advocate with a career spanning over two decades. He currently serves as Associate Pastor at King’s Gate Church/Centro Victoria, a position he has held since 2004, where he leads with a passion for service and a focus on mentoring the next generation of leaders. 

In 2008, at just 27 years old, Jonathan made history as the youngest person ever elected to the Hobbs City Commission. He served the city faithfully until 2016, working to improve infrastructure, expand economic opportunities, and ensure local government worked, as intended, for residents of Hobbs. In 2017, he was elected to the Lea County Commission, serving until 2024, where he continued his mission of where he continued his mission of representing rural voices and fostering a culture that drives responsible economic growth. 

Jonathan's experience also includes working closely with state and federal lawmakers. He served as a personal assistant to State Representatives Shirley Tyler and Don Tripp in 2007, as well as a personal and travel assistant to U.S. Congressman Steve Pearce. His early career also included a prestigious legislative internship in Washington, D.C., with none other than U.S. Senator Pete Domenici.

Rooted in faith and driven by service, Jonathan Sena brings passion, experience, and integrity to every role he serves in — from the pulpit to public office.  He is ready to serve as the next Mayor of Hobbs, fueled by principles we all share. Jonathan is a bold leader, ready to do more for all of us.
